Student Protest Makes LA Schools Cut Police Budget by 35%

A student outcry against the police force in LA schools has prompted school officials to approve a 35% cut, of 25 million dollars to the school police budget. Students will apparently continue to push for complete abolition of the department, but for now, it appears as though the school police might be disbanded altogether after continued protests.

Activist groups say that they will continue to battle the police force existing at all within the community, and especially in the school district of Los Angeles. For now, the board stated that it would cut 65 officers from the school police force, lower the budget by $25 million, prohibit officers from being armed, and also prohibit the use of pepper spray on students.
