PKAZ was an extremely short lived attempt in Portland to replicate CHAZ in Seattle Capitol Hill, but was extremely well documented by freelance journalist Sergio Olmos. PKAZ existed until 3:00 A.M. of June 18th, after police arrived, dispersed the crowd, and destroyed the barricades. PKAZ existed in the Pearl District of northern Portland.
The name comes from Patrick Kimmons, a black man who was killed at the site in 2018.
